Government exams: which attempt to target

For aspirants, the decision is rarely whether to try — it is which sitting deserves the year.

What the chart can say

The sixth house rules competition, the tenth rules position and the eleventh rules the gain from effort. A reading compares the strength of those three across the next two to three attempts.

What it cannot say

  • A rank or a cut-off. No chart produces a number.
  • Whether the syllabus is right for you. That is a study question.
  • That an attempt is impossible. Charts describe difficulty, not prohibition.

The typical finding

Most aspirants have one or two attempts where the combination of dasha and transit is clearly stronger. Preparing hardest for those, and treating the others as practice, is a better use of the same effort.

What to send

Birth details, the exam name, and the dates of the next two or three sittings. If you have already exhausted attempts, say how many — the remaining-attempt limit changes the recommendation.

Questions people ask

Is it worth changing my optional subject based on this?

No. Subject choice is a study and scoring decision. The chart can speak to timing and to the shape of work, not to syllabus strategy.

What if the strong window is two years away?

Then the honest advice is to prepare steadily and treat interim attempts as low-stakes rehearsal. That is a useful answer even though it is not the one most people want.
